FAQs

Is Lotus therapy right for me?

At Lotus we believe that asking for help takes strength. Our therapists are trained to provide support, coping, and problem-solving skills in a safe and comfortable environment. Our therapists have tools and approaches that can be used to help aid the healing process in ways traditional talk therapy might not be able to. Our therapists have seen firsthand the healing that can occur with these alternative treatment methods and feel honored to be a part of that journey.

How do your services differ from traditional talk therapy?

While helping people find the words to describe a client’s life experience is profoundly meaningful, it is often not enough. Trauma is held in the subcortical or emotional brain and in the body. The act of telling the story is an important step, but it doesn’t necessarily access the core, traumatic internal experience nor does it alter the automatic physical and hormonal responses we have “learned." Treatments such as EMDR, BSP, and SE that target the subcortical brain and body address the problem itself as opposed to intermittently alleviating the symptoms.

How long will I be in therapy?

It depends. Every person has unique goals for therapy. Some clients have very specific goals while others may want to explore a broad range of feelings and experiences. At Lotus, it is always our goal to work at a pace that feels comfortable to our clients.

How do I get started?

If you are ready to get started, please start by completing the contact form. This form is located under the “Contact Us” tab. Please allow 2-3 business days for a response. Unfortunately, at this time, we are currently taking clients for our waitlist only as openings are extremely limited.

Will our conversations be confidential?

At Lotus we take confidentiality very seriously as it has been proven that the development of a safe and trusting therapeutic bond between therapist and client is essential for successful treatment outcomes. You can expect that what you discuss in session will not be shared with anyone. By law your therapist cannot release information without your written permission. However, state law and professional ethics require therapists to report the following situations:

  • Suspected abuse or neglect of children, adults, and elders.

  • Suspicion that the client is in danger of harming themselves or has threatened to harm another person.

Also note that certain information may be required to be shared by the therapist if subpoenaed by a judge in a court of law.

Do you offer TeleTherapy?

Although face-to-face sessions are always preferred, we do understand that there are circumstances that may make that difficult. In those instances, we are pleased to offer on-line or TeleTherapy. Due to licensing issues, we are unable to provide these services to non-Illinois residents at this time.

What are your rates?

Our rates are $135 for a 50 minute individual session and $175 for a 50 minute family session.

Do you accept insurance? Do you accept any other methods of payment?

At this time, we accept Blue Cross, PPO, AETNA, Cigna, and Medicare. Additionally, we are happy to accept cash, Venmo, and Zelle payments.

What is your cancellation policy?

To avoid being billed a cancellation fee, we must receive notice at least 24 hours in advance of a scheduled appointment. Note that missed sessions or sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will result in a $60 cancellation fee.
